Dominus has submitted plans to transform the former BT telephone exchange at 123 Judd Street into a high-quality hotel with 240 rooms. The proposals retain and refurbish the majority of the existing 1950s building, bringing this long-vacant site back into productive use while improving its energy performance in line with Camden’s Climate Action Plan.
The project will preserve the building’s character and structure, upgrading it for modern use and enhancing how it connects with Judd Street, Hastings Street and Bidborough Street. At ground level, new public areas will create an active frontage with spaces for people to meet and spend time, helping the building better integrate into the neighbourhood.
Once complete, the hotel is expected to create more than 100 new jobs. Alongside this, Dominus is proposing to create an on-site Camden Hospitality Academy – in partnership with The Springboard Charity – which aims to provide training, work experience and jobs for local people. The proposals reflect Dominus’s approach to sustainable development—revitalising existing buildings while delivering lasting economic and community benefits.
